Juniper Meadow Ranch, LLC, is a locally owned company in Bend, Oregon supplying fresh rabbit from start to finish. The proprietor has a 30 year background in animal husbandry and was a veterinary technician for both small animal and mixed animal practices.
Rabbit provides an excellent source of protein and nutrition. Rabbit surpasses all other meats, including goat meat in its bio available nutrition. They produce more meat for less feed product therefore leaving a smaller carbon footprint than any other available meat on the market. The conversion rates of rabbit are 1:1.4 compared to cattle a 7:1, sheep at 6:1. (source California Agriculture Education) and poultry 1:2[1] . They are better for our body and our ecosystem than other meats.
Rabbit meat is all white meat with a fine grain. It is easily chewed and easily digested. Rabbit contains the highest protein and the lowest fat, with 63% of its fat being unsaturated fatty acids necessary for digestion and absorption of nutrients.
Domestic raised rabbit has less cholesterol than chicken, turkey, beef and pork, and is comparable to goat meat in the cholesterol ratings. The USDA has stated that domestic rabbit meat is the most nutritious meat known to man and is recommended for special diets including weight reduction diet, low sodium diet and cardiac disease diets
Our farm fresh rabbits are raised here in Central Oregon, and are processed on farm. This means they don’t spend days to weeks in an over-crowded truck. It also means they are not exposed to bacterial illnesses and virus, or disposed of their life in an inhumane fashion. We will not slaughter any sick or dying animals or animals with a past illness requiring antibiotic or chemical treatments.
Our rabbits live and die with health, love, respect and humanity.
